Taking the first step in a new project can be daunting, especially when it involves venturing into the unknown. Although I had some experience uploading articles to websites through platforms like Wix, building a website from scratch was a completely new challenge.
To get started, I turned to YouTube, the ultimate source of free tutorials. After researching, I chose GoDaddy as my domain registrar, as it offered the best value for my needs. I also installed WordPress as my content management system (CMS), which was included in my GoDaddy package and is both reliable and user-friendly. Before purchasing the domain, I had to decide on a name for my blog—a crucial step in defining its identity. With so many travel blogs already out there, I knew I needed a name that would stand out. I wanted something unique and personal, but also SEO-friendly (Search Engine Optimization) to ensure my blog would be discoverable.
After much thought, I landed on Arexploring. Here’s why:
Personal Branding: The name incorporates my initials, A and R (Alice Rose), making it personal and memorable.
Play on Words: “Arexploring” is a fun pun on “our exploring,” which adds a playful touch.
SEO Considerations: While it doesn’t include direct travel-related keywords like “travel” or specific destinations, it does include “exploring,” a term closely associated with travel. This will help in linking my blog to travel-related searches.
I’m excited about my choice and confident that arexploring.com will be the home of my blog for the foreseeable future. That said, I’m aware of a few challenges:
SEO Impact: The name doesn’t directly include high-ranking keywords like “travel” or specific locations, which could affect searchability.
Searchability: People might not naturally search for “Arexploring” unless they’re already familiar with my blog.
To address these, I am debating using a descriptive tagline that includes relevant travel keywords (e.g., “Arexploring: AR’s Adventures Around the World”) and focus on creating high-quality, keyword-rich content to boost my SEO.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! Stay tuned for the next chapter of my travel blog project.
